This project received the prestigious Design Excellence Award from the U.S. Air Force. The project entailed the complete renovation of an existing classroom/office building, both exterior and interior. The original building had uninsulated exterior walls with cement-asbestos siding, large window areas and was pock-marked with air intake louvers for the many unit ventilators. The new facade was designed to reduce window areas, provide energy efficient wall construction and conceal the air intakes. The interior was updated with new finishes throughout, new corridor doors and frames, acoustical ceilings, vastly improved lighting and the playful use of bold colors. Other renovation projects include conversion of a former Woolworth's store into commercial office space in Manhattan, Kansas and conversion of a former supermarket into offices in Chester, Illinois.
